"To promote financial stewardship to students in Waterloo, Iowa through education, mentoring, and resources for the cause of economic empowerment."
Who are We?
The Job Foundation is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our cause, economic empowerment for financially disadvantaged children, operates as a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program. Countless CCTs are in operation throughout the world and are rapidly gaining momentum in the U.S. While recognizing the importance of organizations that provide for families in crisis, CCTs do not provide hand-outs. Instead, if participants meet set conditions (financial education, success at school, and no illegal activities in our case) cash is paid to participants. Persons with inadequate financial resources who are helped in this way experience their own power through helping themselves. This likely results in improved self-esteem while lowering the risk of dependency. For more information about the CCT model, please visit our Supporting Research page.
