Project My Part

"Empowering Financial Freedom Through Participation at Home"

Project My Part helps students realize the important roles they play at home and in the community. Like adults, students have a need to contribute to the success of their communities. Through understanding their importance, students develop the ability to plan for the future, take initiative, and become self-sufficient as adults.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in the program? First, academic tutoring occurs in students’ homes. With their work complete, students choose an item from the Home Safe Home Basket, which includes items that benefit the entire family, such as staplers, light bulbs, batteries, etc. Secondly, since family meals are correlated with less drug use, higher academic achievement, and improved general wellness, families are given gas gift cards for eating nutritious meals together around a table. Finally, parents and students are provided financial education and challenged to consider how they can use their unique talents to contribute to society.

How do I sign-up or volunteer? Contact the Executive Director, Jennifer Brost at 319-825-4551 or iscouth@aol.com. Students are selected from targeted geographic locations.
